I read an earlier translation by Robert Chandler. Platonov had been a long overlooked Soviet writer. His works had been banned for many years, but fortunately his daughter kept his manuscripts and was able to get The Foundation Pit and other stories published during the Perestroika era of the 80s/5(11).
